Thornton Junior High School is a public junior high school in Fremont, California, United States. It is part of the Fremont Unified School District. The school was founded in 1958 and serves grades 7-8. As of the 2016-2017 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,082 students and 61.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis) for a student-teacher ratio of 17.6:1. There were 532 students (48.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 137 (12.7% of students) suitable for reduced-cost lunch. The main building has 28 classrooms, a library, and a cafeteria. The campus has two computer labs, a science lab, and an art room. Thornton Junior High School offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including athletics, clubs, and after-school programs.
